The Carport comedy show with Jennifer Blaine book now banner

We live in a time where it takes everything to get anything done.

With The Carport, an ordinary person tackles a bureaucratic system, armed only with creativity, resilience, and a sense of humor.

This 60 minute solo show will (hopefully!) help you re-ignite with that energy to keep on going, and re-discover how you can do it … how we as a country can do it. Won’t you join us at The Carport?

This show is medicine for right now. I was moved to laughter and to tears and in awe of the seamless weaving of so many disparate voices and personalities.

Who knew a bureaucratic nightmare for one person could be a portal of hope for our country’s future?!

Based on her own true experience of having her beloved carport set on fire by an arsonist, Jennifer Blaine’s new solo show, “The Carport” is an interactive, multi-character jaunt through a bureaucratic nightmare that inspires us all to keep going. Although this story playfully depicts a mundane loss, it invites audiences to examine our options when something we love goes up in flames. Maybe we want to hide under a rock and wait for it to be over, maybe we snap to attention, or maybe we apply our creativity and humor to the hardship, so it can fuel our journey to rebuild.

Armed with just her voice and a handful of props, Jennifer employs storytelling, standup, clever original songs, and 30 characters – including a suspicious fire lieutenant, a lounge lizard adjuster, and her actual cousin, Bernie Sanders, to ignite this story. The Carport captures the often solitary process of being stuck, but reminds us that we are not alone.

Our resilience,  greater kindness for ourselves and others eventually pays off, even as we navigate the burning embers of our world.

This was really inspiring. Jennifer shows us how to persevere when we are challenged. We are all being interrupted and disrupted all the time. The fact that she could pull off her project against all odds inspires me that I can do something that seems impossible too.
