Jennifer Blaine’s innovative solo show, Getting Creative, combines topical stand-up comedy, interactive characters, and real-time coaching. Jennifer partners with you, the audience, to spark community, creativity and connection.
Throughout the show, audience members are invited to dialogue with zany original characters, explore prompts to unlock their creativity, feel ready to tackle their current challenges, and become better laughers. After the official play time, each production of Getting Creative culminates with focused coaching for three or so audience members.
The topics covered depend on the audience – sometimes the tone is highly practical, and other times things turn more personal. Topics have been as varied as how to qualify for a mortgage, to why do I feel happier when I speak in a foreign language, to how do I start my writing practice.
Getting Creative can be tailored to focus on a wide range of topics, including but not limited to team building, increasing confidence, group speaking, and stage presence. (Although interactive in spirit, the audience can participate as much or as little as they like. You can just watch, listen, laugh, and enjoy.)

“Thank you for inviting me to your show, where I met a new group of people — your characters. I laughed so hard I almost fell off my chair!! I haven’t laughed like that in a long time.”
Oscar Zambrano, translator, theater director, NY Times opinion writer

“We laughed and we connected with each other and with the people around us. We sang, answered, shouted, hugged, whispered, shared….Jennifer opens doors for frozen, stuck, lost, broken, stalled, procrastinating, hiding artists like me – and it was absolutely transformative!”
Irene Molloy, Broadway actress, singer songwriter
